How deep is it? (I'm referring to the snow, not the "B.S." :) Even in March, my yard still looks like this.........where's my "moon garden"? (Why, under the white stuff, of course!)Did you ever hear bird watchers say "Downey is dinky and Hairy is huge" when identifying those two different woodpeckers? See, they're right!Nice little trail I didn't make for myself with the shovel........it's just that the snow is so "heavenly"..... .....but maybe not inside the feeder...
....or all around the birdbath (think they'll land anyway?)....
....most of my "decorations" are just bumps in the snow...even the tall ones!

My so-called "road" was a real challenge for my good neighbor to plow...
....my driveway would have been a real chore to shovel too, but since I don't, it was just challenging to bull my way through! (Hey, I only got stuck once! :)
These odd little signs are for the "roads" that never get plowed...snowmobile trails!
This one veers off from my road and heads back to town.......there's even a cute little stop sign at the intersection! Canadian readers see this stuff too-sledders in town! I've lived up here 10 years, and I still think it's really cool....
....this trail is right in town, too........I mean, think how much gas you could save commuting by sled in winter and motorcycle in summer.... .....I just think the fresh air and scenic beauty would be worth it! (Too bad I'm too chicken to ride either!)

Look how contrasty the red willow twigs are against the snow...nice!
And what's this?! See the two white dots in the center near the top? Pussy willow blooms! Signs of spring despite the snow...yay! At least somebody knows what month it is! Guess I'd better get my "winter sowing" started, pronto!

I'm surprised to hear you say (see you write) that you're "too chicken" for anything. That doesn't sound right at all.

It's fun to imagine people zipping around on snow sleds in my neighborhood--on the narrow little streets, up and down the hills.

I echo chuck b. When I think "Lisa at Millertime" I definitely do not think "too chicken!" lol.

We used to ride snowmobiles in the wintertime... back when we had "real" winters in NW Ohio. My uncle had a snowmobile and we'd love to have him take us for rides on it. :)

No snow, so sad. We have to use four wheelers.

Georgeous shots, as always.

If you can still see the beauty of red twigs against the snow, you must be living in the right place, Lisa!

It could look cool if you had some really tall decor in the garden ... something wood or metal with crosspieces, towering over the snowbanks, making shadows on the snow. And the birds would perch on it and look decorative...hairy and downy at once!! Oh, my!

Chuck-That would be crazy in SF for snowmobiles...hills would be fun for sure! And I appreciate the vote of confidence, but there are actually many things I'm too chicken to do...but they don't make sense. I'm scared of motorcycles and snowmobiles, but not horses. And while I hate climbing on my roof, I'd like to go skydiving. (Loon!)

Kim-Funny, the last time I rode on a snowmobile was in Indiana...I had less fear as a kid. The thing that scares me now is the danger of other sledders riding drunk and going way too fast...a lot of people die up here that way. Cops have been handing out DUI's to drunk sledders, but still...I'm chicken. :)

Aunt debbie/kurt's mom-The upshot with four wheelers is the versatility...you can use them year-round.

Hank-Thank you! It sure IS cold outside...we still have lows below zero at night for the foreseeable future...*sigh*.

Annie-Hey...great idea! I'm gonna look into this...thank you!

Your snow looks just like my snow and I'm gettin' tired of it. I'd love the idea of commuting by snowmobile during the winter. It's always fun hopping on the back of one!

Hey, cool! Thanks for the tour! I'm jealous. We had some big fat fluffy flakes falling from the sky the other night, but, alas, it didn't stick. I did go for a moonlit walk in the snow.
We've got another chance of snow tomorrow...keep your fingers crossed. :)

Btw, my xmas cactus cuttings are now standing up on their own! Yay!
How's yours doing?

Kate-Funny, but I'm really not that tired of the snow...maybe because I know I'm way behind in my spring garden plans. :)

Vonne-Maybe you should take a trip up here some year and enjoy some snow in person! :) I'm glad to hear your Christmas cactuses (cacti) are taking off! Mine are doing well, too...the ones in water have rooted, and the ones in soil are looking good. (Only one rotted out of three...yay!)

Well, I have to admit that more than one rotted. I'm glad you sent a lot of cuttings!! The three that you sent that we're already rooted are jamming, they never missed a beat, and the one that I had to root is gonna make it, but it was touch and go there for a while...I was hoping like hell that I didn't have to send you an obituary notice...heh

Hubs and I have actually discussed taking a winter vacation back to your area. Maybe rent a little cabin... Do they even rent them in winter, or do they close them up?
I really, really miss snow. sigh.
We loved our last vacation up there, but it was in May. Still chilly though.

Heh..."obituary"...too funny. It would be way cool if you came up here! They absolutely DO rent cabins in winter...places like Crivitz, or Iron Mountain in Michigan's Upper Peninsula have some of their busiest tourism in the winter. (Especially one like this!) If you want me to do any research or anything, let me know! :)

Thanks! I'll definitly let you know! We were in the Upper Peninsula last time we were there.
We drove cross country and went all the way into Canada, went to Niagara and came out on the New York side, then headed south west back home.
We had a blast. Took us two weeks.
This time I'd like to fly to a destination and spend the whole two weeks in one spot. The more snow the better!! :)

Wow, that sounds like an excellent trip! If you want snow, this is a great place to visit...you can actually hop on a sled and drive all the way to Minnesota from here, maybe farther! The trail system is really extensive, and well-used this year for sure. Cool...it would be awesome to meet up! I could at least give you the "tavern tour" ;-)...with a designated driver, of course!

Ki said...

So that's where all the snow went this winter.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a plan! Uh..wonder who the designated driver will be? heh

lisa said...

Ki-Sorry to be so selfish with it...I'd share if I could! :)

Vonne-Heh...I haven't quite worked out the details :) but I'm sure we can figure out something!

Which we had some decent snow this year. Only had a few tiny snow falls hardly worth shoveling the driveway for...... Now that's SNOW baby! I bought a snow thrower two years ago and I’ve hardly used – sad.

Ironic, since I've never bought a snowblower after 10 years in this climate, and I COULD be using it. (But I do have quite an assortment of bored and neglected kitchen gadgets...so I sure know how it goes :-)
