My "pets" have awakened! I used to be an animal-crazy kid-hamsters, cats, dogs, horses, iguanas, mice, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geckos, snakes-I've had all sorts of creatures as pets. But somehow as I've grown up, I'm not so keen on pets in the house (along with their associated expenses). So now these little guys are my pets, along with the wild birds. And considering how they climb all over everything....
....I'm amazed at how they don't really get into anything. Sure, they like to bury seeds in my planters, which often results in a clustered bunch of sunflowers sprouting out of nowhere. But mostly they just chase each other around, and pose real cute for me...
...I even had one sit right on my foot while I was weeding! He ran a few feet, then turned back to look at me as if to say "Tag-you're it!" Since I feed corn to all squirrels in general, these guys chow down, too........and they even leave me "gifts" for the composter! What considerate little pets I have!

Oh, they are sweet! We've got squirrels we've started to put out corn for, but they don't get so "up close and personal."

Oy, pets are sooo expensive. I'm totally cool not having pets.

It's great that you can enjoy so much wildlife. I think that's really nice.

Marion-I bet the longer you feed them, the more comfy they'll get with you and your "squirrel-friendly" environment. I even get flying squirrels at night-they are REALLY cute! I figured it out when I heard what I thought were birds one evening. I stood very still and watched the corn cob on the tree, and sure enough, little gray and white flying squirrels were gliding in and landing on the corn.

Chuck-I'm amazed at how much I DON'T miss pets, especially considering how many I used to have. No fur on the rug, no fleas, no guilt if I can't spend time with them, but I do feel guilty if I don't keep food out for my bushy little buddies.

I wish we had cute 'munks instead of the tree rats. And I wish I was as limber as the one you photographed with leg outstretched in the chipmunk yoga position #3-"see if you can chew your thigh with your leg sticking straight out".

Heh-I used to do yoga too, and I agree completely! These days, I'm afraid I'm "built for comfort, not for speed"! :)

Cute little guys. Great pictures. I think KI hit on a money maker. Chipmunk Yoga videos?!?!?!

Chipmunks are surely the cutest rodents. I usually see them after the acorns fall - then they make a zillion trips back and forth stashing them somewhere. One year, they stashed them in the track of our sliding patio door. I wonder how they planned to get them out again?

KC-"chipmunk yoga" sounds great!! I bet it would actually sell on QVC!

Entangled-mine do the same thing...they're illogical sometimes like that, mine found a way into my screen house, and I can only guess where the heck they're stashing stuff in there!
