Asparagus....yummy! My asparagus "patch" (kinda small for such a distinction), has fed me just one serving so far.... ...but it was delicious just the same! I will definately need to plant a few more, I think some were damaged when my chimney was knocked down, and I need a bigger harvest. Pretty good start, though!

Oh, now I'm encouraged! I planted 2 year old bare roots this spring and I'm letting mine "do their thing" this summer to feed those roots. Yours looks delicious! How many plants to you have, and how old are they? I can't wait until next spring when I may sneak a few spears before letting the fronds feed the roots again. The year after that, WATCH OUT!

Exciting! They look great! Did you grill them? Oh, if I only had some more land, I would love to try some. A very good start!

Is it hard to grow asparagus? I'm in chicago and I want to try my hand at vegetable gardening... slowly albeit.

Marion-I think my plants are 2 yr. old roots planted 2 years ago. I want to buy more to plant in with them too, cuz' I only have about 6 plants growing. (My chimney was knocked down and disassembled over the area, and I think some plants were damaged.)

GG-I just nuked them with a little water and butter-yummy! This patch is only about 5'x 5', so I say go for it! Sure, a bigger patch will give you more to eat, but small works fine for me!

Rosemarie-not hard at all! I just planted the roots, let them go to fern the first year, then harvested the next. (They were 2 year old roots to start with). I cover the area with horse manure every other year, aside from that-nothing! Ignore them and let them do their thing.

Becky-oh yea, YUM is right! :)
