Waxwings are here! I really love these beautiful, sleek birds! I was walking into work this morning, and heard their whispery calls...looked around and here they are! A whole flock of them cleaning the leftover fruit off this tree in the parking lot (some kind of cherry, I think). So I dash inside, punch in, (can't be late!), and came back out to take pictures. I couldn't get super close, so even fully zoomed they aren't as close as I'd like, but you get the idea. Then I spot the robin on the ground below the tree...poor thing looks like some sort of social outcast. Guess it was a private party!

I love waxwings, too! Although they supposedly are here year round i usually only see them in the yard once or twice a year in January or February often eating the fruit on the Bradford pear. I tried for a photo this year and didn't get a good one...you did a nice job!

I'm with you on the waxwings. They always seem to have such a good time. They'll be at our house in the early summer when a certain tree has berries. It's next to the garden so I enjoy having their company. Thanks for sharing!
Great Blog...all those lovely birdies....ours are definitely nest building again! We've had a v mild weather and the birds have been nesting over winter and they're at it again. Saw a bee last week when we had a warm day...was a bit drowsy but i always feel that springs here when you see a bee!

USA has lots of brightly coloured birds with romantic names.We have common, variety birds with not so romantic names :)
I did try to get a magpie photo because they have great feather colour, from black to a dark blue.

Nice bird pics. Unfortunately I've not seen such nice looking birds here in Chicago. But I have seen some pigeons and seagulls do those count?

Thanks for the nice comments everyone! And thanks to the newcomers for stopping by! I agree with you, Zizzy-bees are a sure sign of spring! Snappy-you guessed it, I am never without my camera! Mr. Brownthumb, I say gulls and pigeons DO count-best if they aren't in the yard en masse' though...you may end up with a mess! KC-your pics are pretty darn nice, too. I love it when you can stop them mid-flight!
