It's here! First snow this morning, and I'm not quite ready. The birdbath needs cleaned and plugged in (heated for my birdy friends), and I still need to plant some things! Ah well, the temps will go back up and melt it later today...but for now it's rather pretty... .....although I don't think this lamium is enjoying it!
Anybody else having their first snowfall?

Weather is weather. Every place has its downside.

Having said that, I have only suburban snow to report, but it has not reached us, as we are closer to the lake, downtown.

I am hoping for a warm spell, as I am nowhere close to finishing the bulbs--just got another box of them today!!

Brrr, not yet and hopefully not for a long time. I hate shoveling the stuff although it does make the ugly brown garden in winter look nice. We bought a heated pan for the birdies but the bowl was too shallow and the birds pooped in the water so either there was no water left because it evaporated too quickly or the water was fouled and you had to clean it. It was a PITA having to unplug it each time to clean it. They just have drink from the pond or go find a stream.

EAL-Yea, I don't really mind the snow thus far, since it melted right off and the ground is still workable. One more weekend of planting and I won't care at all.

Ki-My heated bath can be a pain like that, and I clean/fill it pretty often in the winter. Luckily my outdoor spigot drains itself back when you shut it off, so I can do the scrubbing outside in all but the coldest weather. (The dish itself just screws off the stand.)

IT WAS 88 FRICKIN DEGREES here today. Ummm, could you box up a bit of that snow and send it my way? heh

Vonne-Heh...sorry! Much as I'd enjoy growing the kinds of things you can in that climate, I just wouldn't trade you. Heck, Indiana was too warm for me! In fact, I applied for a job in Fairbanks, Alaska before I moved up here, but it didn't pan out. In retrospect I'm glad, because I would not want to be that many miles/hours/dollars away from my immediate family. (Except my son, who happily lives much closer.)

I don't EVEN know WHAT you are GOING through!

Heated birdbath--that's cute! So luxurious.

Chuck-I seem to recall that you are a lifelong Californian...have you ever even seen snow in real life? It's not so bad...but then, I actually ENJOY cold weather! As for the birdbath...my feathered friends are sooo worth it!

I really wish we would get at least one snow this year. Preferably on the weekend, because people in Alabama don't know how to drive in the snow! But we haven't had any at all in the last 4 years or more.
