Bring in da snow, bring in da wind...small setback in our progression toward spring. We got a generous dusting of snow as you can see from this horribly blurry, Monet-like photo of this deer (I was in a hurry to get to work)...and when I got home, most of the snow was gone, but my arbor was on the ground from the gusty winds. (I never really anchored it too well). Then the weather guy showed the wind chills last night-yikes! So my "winter-sown" seeds are definately getting some "cold straification" action...always an upshot to any situation if you look hard enough, I say (annoying to some, but it's sort of my "thing", and hey, I gotta be me!)

Yikes!

Thanks for reminding me why I moved to Cali!

Heh...funny, cuz' I actually moved farther north from where I grew up to get MORE cold and snow! Of course, I see the charm of Cali when I read the blogs and see the cool stuff you get to grow...but I'll stay here for the seasons and reasonable cost of living.

(That's exactly why I needed reminding).

Actually, the seasons thing is misunderstood by people who don't live here as well as unobservant transplants -- as I was before I started gardening. There are 4 very distinct seasons here, it is just hard to tel at first because each is so much more pleasant than elsewhere.

The absence of snow is the price I pay for the absence of cold.
