Exciting news!!!! I finally got a new digital camera!!! After some research, I decided on the Canon SD900 Elph....10 megapixels, 4x zoom....so very small and compact, too! I could easily "hide" it whenever necessary, and there are great low-light capabilities...fancy sepia options for cool effects, etc. The best price was at

although this link sez' the price is $285.00, but I paid $259.00...whatever. I can't post pics just yet though, because my PC is a dinosaur with no room on the hard drive. But I'm trying to upload right from my camera to a photobucket acct. from a different location...we'll see how it goes! Hooray for technology!!!

Wow. That's a really good deal. Canon makes great cameras..
I can't wait!
Hi Lisa, I've had several camera's but my last two have been Canon because my last one, a 35mm film type was so reliable even after being dropped several times and still works to this day if you wanted to be bothered with films, that when looking to go digital I went for a Canon and so far that is proving to be a good choice, I'm very pleased with it. With regard to your storage problems from experience it's best not to save on your hard drive anyway, if you do then be sure to back them up.I personally save all my pics on to either SD or COMPACT FLASH memory cards. I have a 1GB card in my camera and same again for the card reader on my computer so I just copy them from the card in the camera to the one in the computer that way I always have two copies just in case something happens to one of the cards. The only pictures I delete from the camera are the ones I don't want. I've had these two cards about a year now and when they are full I will buy a couple of new ones. Of course if you manage to do what you plan then your pics should be pretty safe too but I just thought I would tell you what I do just in case its of any help to you.
Bob.
I picked up a Flickr account (the pro account) and it cost a little bit but I use it for storing and cataloging my photos. "Real Flickr People" use Flickr for all kinds of things. I'm not one of them. I just don't like keeping GIGS AND GIGS of photos on my cpu.
Its robust and you can "blog your photos" (or other people's) straight from the Flickr site.
Check it out!
Can't wait to see what you do now. You had gorgeous photos before!
YAY! We'll get to see even more great pictures this year! (I can't wait to see the fruits of your current water plant lust!)
Thanks everyone for the encouragement!! I wanted to upload photos today, but my battery ran out last night while taking pics of my son's dog. So I hope to be up and running tomorrow!
Sounds like a super camera! You'll have such fun with it! Okay, I don't know if this is an option for you, but I have an external hard drive that I use for my pictures. It wasn't too expensive as I recall and I can plug it into whichever computer I'm on. This saves me from having to make decisions about my pictures...at least for now! It's been a great help to me as before you know it, you'll have gazillions of pictures!
