Oops! I forgot the eggshells! I knew in advance that worms need these, and I'd rinsed some and had them drying, but forgot to add them with the food. My research stated to crush them with a rolling pin, but the meat tenderizer was more handy. So I sprinkled them over the "food area"...figuring they'll just get covered with more layers of scraps and bedding soon. Hopefully now they're all set...

thanks to the worms.

You did a great job on these postings about vermiculture.

"More handy"... mmmhmmm. Why don't you just admit that you meant "more fun"!!! ;)

Hi Lisa, I hope everything goes okay with your worm farm, I told Tommy about it but he wasn't impressed, he thinks dogs are for eating scraps not worms! I don't kwow anything about worm farming but I believe the liquid that comes from them is a very good feed.

Heh...yes Blackswamp Girl, I get much more pleasure from the more medieval kitchen tools! ;) ukbob-I hear tell that the "worm tea" is beneficial...too bad doggie poo isn't! (Although I'm sure Tommy does lots of important things for you!) Thanks for the kudos, Becky...I'll post progress soon, too.

I am so jealous that you are setting up a worm bin. I've been wanting to do this for a few years now but between resisitance from my wife (doesn't want worms in the house) and a lack of free time, I haven't done anything yet. :(

Good luck with your bin and please keep us posted on the progress.

Anthony, sorry to hear that you cannot have worms in the house...they honestly don't smell at ALL, even when the bin is open. More posts to follow...
