I broke the news
the other day that I would be reviewing a complementary item from
CSN Stores , and I got word that it shipped on February 26th. March 2nd it arrived! Pretty speedy shipping, and Gizmo is obviously excited for the big reveal...
...it's an Earth Box! Have you ever tried one of these? According to their website: "The patented EarthBox was developed by commercial farmers and proven in the lab and on the farm. Our maintenance-free, award-winning, high-tech growing system controls soil conditions, eliminates guesswork and more than doubles the yield of a conventional garden- with less fertilizer, less water and virtually no effort." I'd seen these advertised and always wanted to try one, but they're fairly pricey (like $50!) so I never bought one.
Thank you CSN Stores!!Got it unpacked, comes with a bunch of accessories-even wheels!
Not too sure how I feel about this "plant food", since I prefer
amending my soil over granular products. Guess I'll behave myself this first year and follow the instructions :)
Gizmo inspects the planter, pretty large considering he's 23" long (not including his tail). Interior planter dimensions are 27 1/2" long, 12" wide, and 8" deep....I should be able to grow a
bunch of veggies in here!
Good clear instructions too...now I just need some warm weather....soon!
Meanwhile, Gizmo has selected
his favorite item in this shipment =^^=
Wow, now I'm
really anxious for this growing season!
Disclaimer: CSN Stores gave me this complimentary item in exchange for a review of their stores. The opinions expressed here are honest and all my own.

This is sooo right up your alley. I'm eager to see the results. What are you going to grow?
I'm just not sure...I need more spots for tomatoes, but I've seen pictures of people growing CORN in these things. I bought a baby corn 'Bonus' from Cook's Garden, and it says you can "harvest ears when the plant is only 18" tall after @ 30 days". What do you think?
Haven't seen anyone grow corn in them here, but friends used them for greens, tomatoes and herbs - hope they're a success, Lisa

Thanks Annie...I'm leaning toward tomatoes because I bought so many different varieties to try this year and I need the room. The corn would be fairly dramatic, though :)
Wow, a box inside a box--that really is a cat's dream come true. I've heard a lot about the Earth Box--everyone who has one seems to love it. Looking forward to your reports.
LOL! This sure WAS a kitty-friendly experience...Griz was very busy :) I'm really hopeful this works as well as it should, the weather on our "Ag Report" TV show is calling for a hot and wet summer for the upper midwest. I see ripe tomatoes in my future!
I couldn't help but think that growing Gizmos would be a popular choice. If he would only stay still long enough.
I've missed your cats. Thanks for the pictures!
LOL! I think all I can handle is ONE Gizmo :) They have been bugging me for more "air time" on the blog lately =^^=
