Kitties, kitties, ko-ko pop....

...kitties, kitties pop! These are my roommates, Gizmo (in black), and Bentley (in white). Many of you have met them before . Much as I enjoy their company (and antics), I'm also aware of the stereotypes about "middle-aged women with cats". Not only am I okay with all that, but I'm about to reveal something that will dial it up a notch.... ...I make up songs for my cats. There. I said it. The opening line of this post was one of them, but there are several more. Some are "character-specific", like "Bentley-rentley puddin' and pie, he's a kittycat kinda guy".

Or "We're off to see the Grizzard, the wonderful Grizzard of Oz".
There's the Reggae-inspired "Bent-a-rrrent, ramalama ding-dong, kitty-ka-kitty, kiiiyta kitta kiteee, meow-me-meow, meowny meowny meownee". (Hard to spell out the sounds sometimes, but I think you get the drift :)
Ouch! Guess that one's "panned by the critics" (or subject to severe editing!) Some of you may be thinking I'm more than a little goofy, and should keep my goofiness concealed...

...or at least "caged in"...

...or perhaps you find me downright scary!

However, I'm okay with non-conformity or "breaking through the cardboard barriers of social norms"...

....to serenade my feline friends with my personal "kitty ditties".
"Meow for kitties, meow for kitties, meow for kitties, because they go meow meow!" Submitted to Friday Ark.

"Who's the biggest tiger you ever did see? The biggest tiger is Penelope!" "Jimi-nelly Boom Boom Nelly, he's an orange cat." "Bizi-Nelly Boom Boom Nelly, she's a gray meow!"

Um, I'm totally OK with being a crazy cat lady. My cats even have voices. Which is really odd, because my totally conformist hey-mr.-business-guy ex-husband started that waaaay back when!

I'm going today to a house filk, where I can sing badly! I'm doing the Scorn of Buckthorn, a German Xmas song, and Planting Queen, a parody of Dancing Queen. :) My ctas howled as I practiced, so...

LOL. Those are some great songs. From one crazy cat lady to another, it's fun to be creative like that.

Thank you, Cinj...I couldn't agree more! I've always really enjoyed limericks, but the songs got going when my son was little. He always enjoyed being silly, then when he got into band the rhythm and "noise" never stopped! :)

Great Pictures!! Love the songsmanship! I miss my former kitties, but I'm glad they have a nice mommy to take care of them and play fetch with the Grizz!!

Thank you! Griz is insisting I play fetch with him as I write this! (You are aware that I'm really only YOUR mommy, right? :)

Hey, just appreciating the comfort our pets bring us is all they really want, anyway :)

Oh that post really cried out for an audio version, LOL.

No songs for the cats here, but the parakeet has one. "Beaker, Beaker, Beaker, Beaker, Beaker, Beaker, pretty bird. What a pretty bird, pretty Beaker bird. What a pretty Beaker bird!" Sung to the tune of My Darling Clementine, of course.

Beaker gets really exicted when you sing his song. :)

Fortunately for my innocent readers' auditory sensibilities, I reconsidered my intention to actually provide audio! ;-) I LOVE the parakeet song!! Nice to have an appreciative audience, I think my cats are quite unimpressed with MY talents.
