It's That Time of Year

The time of year when all I do is drive to work and come home, mostly. Tuesday while on the way, I got to see this awesome sun pillar . It's even prettier than the one I saw last year.
Aside from that, about every other day there's this.... ...yea, that's pretty much it. Is it spring yet?

Have never saw a sun pillar before, nor had I ever heard of one. It is quiet awesome. Thank you for posting it.
I am ready for spring too.

Nice sun pillar! I still haven't managed to see one yet.

I can't believe you drive in that much snow... down here they'd shut the state down for a month!

sun pillar... that's a new one for me. Beautiful though.

You just taught me a new word. I had no idea what a sun pillar was. I'd never seen one before and now I'm going to have to watch the sunsets for one.

Wow, what a great picture. Um, not the snow. I've seen plenty of that. I agree, I can't wait for spring.

Hocking Hills-As much as I honestly enjoy the snow, the plant catalogs I've been getting are giving me spring fever.

Chuck-At least it seems more spring-like on your blog! :) The link says a sun pillar is: "A beam or pillar of sunlight reflected upward from horizontal surfaces of ice crystals." I just call it pretty!

Meemsnyc-*Sigh*...I think it's snowing nearly EVERYWHERE at one point this year!

Karen-I'm so used to driving in the snow that I barely notice anymore. The trick is to keep in mind that you ARE "skating" most of the time, and maintain a very light touch on the gas, brakes, AND wheel. The second you start to skid-off the gas and just steer...good times. *~<];-)

Troutbirder-Thank you!

MrBrownThumb-They occur at sunrise or sunset, this one was at sunrise.

Cinj-Thanks...I'm ready to buy a new houseplant just for some flowers!

I am glad you posted these. Not only is the sun pillar beautiful, the snow picture is frightening, and I can't imagine driving in that weather. I was feeling pretty put-out today to have to go to a client meeting this afternoon at 3, but seeing this picture makes me realize that bundling up a little is really nothing compared to this. (Oh, the seed catalogs are rolling in and I am making big plans. Wonderful way to forget the weather.)

Marina-Thank you! I actually love the snow, but the driving sure can get tense at times. I agree with you, seed catalogs and ensuing plans/daydreams are very helpful for a gardener's winter night's dream. :)
