One more April Fool's prank...and I'm guessing this nice robin didn't appreciate it! You see, spring is trying to show itself up here....
....the deer sure notice the difference....
...but the snow still comes in the tops of my boots in many spots around the yard........although I enjoy the irony of this ice plant greening up next to the ice!
Uh oh! Looks like I have a drainage problem here....

...making this bobber all the more appropriate!

But some bulbs right along the southern foundation of the house are coming up....
....and some heuchera under this dead artemesia foliage....
...as well as my surprise lily ("naked ladies"). But I didn't uncover any of them...
.....because of this! This was the prediction Monday into Tuesday....
....*sigh*...is it wrong of me to want to slap this gal? (I know, "don't shoot the messenger"...or the piano player....whatever).
And just like she said, here's my "You thought it was spring? Ha! April Fool!"
No small amount, either.... ...but later, for the drive home it's almost as though nothing happened....
...except in a couple spots near my porch........birdies scrounging around.... ....aahhh, much better!

Now back to our regularly scheduled spring! Yay!

Heh...I'd want to slap her too.

I won't brag about how my wisteria, coral honeysuckle and salvias are blooming...and I probably shouldn't mention that my little tomato plants have blooms, or that the beans and cucumbers are up.... That would just be cruel, wouldn't it? So, I won't mention it. Mums the word. :)

I stepped out of the house, the birds are singing and I know spring is around the corner:-))

-Cheers.

Vonne-Heh...yea, thanks for not rubbing it in! :) I was gonna email you and ask about your spring, I figured you're getting lots of growth already.

Guild-rez-Don't you love how the birds "announce" spring first? All the nesting and such, and for me it's time to put out oranges and jelly for the orioles. I sure can't wait to see them!

I'm sorry to see you got more snow, but I'm very happy to find another cold climate gardener :)

Thanks Amy! I like your blog...I guess it's true that misery loves company, this time of year especially! Kidding, but seriously it's always fun to compare notes with folks in similar climates.

I loved this post!

I'm in central Wisconsin and this pretty much sums it up for my area as well. The only differences are what kind of plants I have sprouting (tulips, lilyofthevalley, iris).

I have a gardening blog too. Check it out some time.

Put some socks on! Geez! :)

What a difference a shift makes.

Hank just had his first day in the garden (in 2008). I guess yours is coming up...

I feel for ya! We got the same. I was annoyed that we didn't get out of school for our 9 inches of snow. And no, I don't blame you for feeling like slapping her!

Chuck-Heh...busted! I did manage to get outside over the weekend, and it was great! Over 60 degrees, it felt like summer!

Cinj-Wow, school in all that?! That's just wrong...hope your weather is warming up!

Deb-Always an upside, right? ;-)

I must say I am very surprised to see the iceplant covered with ice. Do you have any idea what type it is? I thought they would all die at the first sign of snow. FYI your guess for the mystery plant over on my site was wrong but thanks for guessing. I just posted the correct plant....er weed.

My ice plant is delosperma nubigenum, and although it's only listed as hardy to zone 6 in many catalogs, it's been growing and blooming for me in zone 4 for about 3 years. Weed eh? Go figure...;-)
