"Red skies in morn', sailor be warned"...this theory applies to snowmobilers as well, because this began the day last Sunday......and this is what followed..... ....the local weather people name snow storms up here (hurricane envy?), so this one was "Isabella".
She began her fury with some ice in the morning........about a quarter inch thick!

My son gets scraper duty...

......and it's a real project........success! Now I get to hit the road for the 75+ mile trip home...by this time, it's snowing.......and snowing.....glad I'm not in that line of cars!
Although my lane doesn't look too great either!
The side roads sure aren't any better....

....getting deeper as I get closer to home.... ....these snowfall totals are short by a few inches-I got fully 13" of new snow, on top of what was already there!
There's even a snow drift inside this feeder!
I really love the way the snow looks, but I think it's time to break out the shovel and dig out...

.....proof positive that you should be careful what you wish for! After all, I started the year wanting more, and by golly, I got it!

And to think I whine and cry when it just drizzles.

Gardenjoy4me-Heh...this has definately been the most Canadian winter I've ever been in! Our temps are like yours, too...the low last night was -8 with a wind chill of -35. Now THAT part I can do without, but the snow is cool by me!

Aunt debbi/kurts mom-I prefer snow over freezing drizzle any time, so I say your whining is completely justified!

You people (waving his hand in a circle, pointing at you) are made out of sturdy stuff.

Thank you Chuck! I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy snow so much-it reminds me that humans are basically wimpy and we can't get too smug or complacent in dealing with weather. Mother nature is not to be taken lightly...or she gets pissed!

Wow, I was so caught up in the cacti post that i totally missed this one!! OMFG! All of Texas shuts down if we get a dusting and you're out trekking in 8-13 inches.
You da man!

They name the snowstorms up there?!? Jeez, don't tell our weather people here - that might catch on. Everything closes in Virginia if snow is even predicted, never mind if it actually happens.

Vonne-I know how it is down south, but you guys see temps in summer that would make me melt! I really enjoy the snow...maybe there's an eskimo in my family somewhere! :)

Entangled-That whole storm-naming thing really annoyed me at first, but I'm used to it now. At least your locals are cautious...you should see the weather our kids go to school in up here!
