Public Service Message: This blogger is fully immersed in a drug-like stupor, induced by the lure and promise of springtime blooms. At the risk of sounding all "Look what I can do", this gardener can hardly contain the ridiculously optimistic enthusiasm of the promises in these little bulbs! Any "overspray" of obnoxious enthusiasm incurred is just part of the deal...sorry.

I'm imagining you in a pleated skirt and sweater, with bunches of flowering tulips serving as your pompoms... *grin*

I just read the last three posts and can remember thinking I'd been on a bulb binge a few times myself, Lisa, but your numbers beat anything in my past! I don't remember orders from Brecks, but had lots of stuff from Dutch Gardens, Van Bourgondien, Park and White Flower Farm when we were back in IL. I kept a few of the order forms but your books with photos are a wonderful record.

The colors you've chosen should harmonize beautifully - what a gorgeous spring it will be in your garden - if you can just keep the critters away. That sandy soil probably explains why your tulips come back - they get the good drainage they need in your garden.

You should definitely kick the critters who go after your bulbs in the... other knee! ;)

Btw, do you have internet at home again? I thought you were only able to post at work on weekdays--it's fun to "see you around" on weekends! (As long as that doesn't mean you're stuck at work, of course. lol.)

Okay, girl, put that digging implement down ad step-away-from-the-bulbs... I'm sure, if you hurry, you can catch a 12 step program... Oh and if you see MY sponser there, tell her that I'm over at your place clearing out all the bulbs you have stashed so you won't be tempted to fall off the wagon... It's all about you baby, that's just the kind of person I am. Heh

Annie-Yea, this is my biggest bulb binge ever! I'll be dialing it back for next year (of course, I say that EVERY year! ;-)

Kim-I'm at home, but I usually don't get on the net here because it's dial-up and quite slow/frustrating/maddening! I can't do anything with pictures/posting from here, but I can surf and comment. Tax time will bring me a new computer which will help (this is a Gateway 2000 from 1998!), but my connection will stay slow, because fast internet in the boonies is expensive if even available. Like $80 a month or more! Hey, I may buy bulbs by the hundreds, but I can't see spending so much for that!

Vonne-Hahahahaha! That's hilarious, and I know what you mean-I'm just that kind of person, too! ;-)

Oh, Lordy, I remember dial-up. What they've been advertising here (we have some boonies too) is satellite internet. If you have a south-facing place for a dish it might work for you. This is in no way a recommendation, just a possibility. The company that's advertising is HughesNet, and they claim they're reasonable. It might be worth looking into if you have the strength from planting all those bulbs...

I wish I could have some bulbs here, but they rot instead of naturalizing, and I don't have a place to store/chill them. Sigh...

Marion-Thank you for that info...I will look into HughesNet in case they're affordable for somebody cheap like me! I know there are some bulbs that don't require a chill period, in fact Chuck at Episodic Whoreticulture (link in my sidebar) just bought a bunch. He lives in San Francisco, so maybe you could grow those same kinds.

How are you going to come down? :)

Nothing dispells the cooler season blues like a cuppa and a bulb catalogue

Chuck-Hopefully I won't come all the way down! Blogging has definately been inspiring, which keeps me conspiring in the garden constantly. I'm hoping some of this energy stays with me, as I have lots of horse poo to spread yet late fall.

Bare bones-That's the truth!
