A Study in Contrasts...some of my plants look as though they are preparing for a "long winter's nap", while others look like they didn't get the memo! Some are even growing right next to each other-maybe "willing" themselves a longer summer?

We all wish for longer summers, but now im prepared for the Autumn.I planted spring bulbs for three seasons in front. You have a good selection of colours.Love your mushrooms and bright coloured fungus.I have had dull brown mushrooms only in the grass and square border.

Don't you love the way those hosta leaves turn yellow? Mine on the "unknown blue hosta" are that deep yellow right now, too... I never really think of hostas as having good autumn color until I see those guys. :)

As much as I've loved the growing season this year, I must confess that I'm enjoying Fall as well. The hostas sure do add some nice fall color to the ground...as if echoeing the trees. I just feel a little forlorn to be done gardening, because work kept me so busy that I didn't get my gardening "jones" fully fed this year. In the past, I was ready for fall because I had been such a gardening maniac that I needed a break...but not so much this year. Oh well, I can scatter some wildflower seeds, put the potted stuff and tender bulbs to bed, and research next year's projects and purchases. Then hopefully give myself a reality check financially before I go crazy and buy EVERYTHING I really want! :)

Lisa,

I think they are gorgeous. I really love the contrast > a juxtaposition of color. Nice post.

Best, Barrie

I looked today online at seeds, plants, fruit tree's etc.I wanted loads!!I have serious addiction to buying new plants.I will have to sit down and make a plan, to be organised for a change. My planting plans have always been in my head, and changing it at ground level. I ordered more seed brochures today.Another winter pasttime.

"Gardening in my mind" and planning for spring are a couple of my favorite winter activities! Of course, ice fishing in an ice shack with a strapping outdoorsman runs closer than second! ;)
