"Halloween Cactus"? This beauty is Schlumbergera 'Sunset', from Logees Greenhouse. She's been in the screenhouse all summer, and now with the shortening days is blooming like crazy! I love the unusual bloom color, Logees is great about carrying unique houseplants. Although their prices aren't exactly cheap, the specimens you get small to average, I've always had great luck with growth....in fact, I've already grown three more of these from dropped branches to give as gifts! Can't wait to see how my other colors bloom this year...I hope they all enjoyed their "summer vacation" this much.

Beautiful AND exotic. These look like a home run. Well done. Thank you for sharing these photos.

Love the color! Did you do anything special to get it to bloom?
They look great! So beautiful. Makes everything inside the home so cheery.
Thanks for the nice comments! As for stimulating bloom-all I did was bring it indoors after temps began to drop outside, about 3 weeks ago now. It was exposed to 40 degreee temps a couple times...but I think the shorter days are causing bloom. (Even though this is hanging in a south facing window.) I don't usually open this shade, but it's woven paper, and it lets light filter in. So far this specimen has bloomed this early every year...while the others do so around Thanksgiving or Christmas like normal. Self-staggering bloom show...I'll take it!
That is a beautiful plant Lisa.the pink and yellows are divine!!
Yes you are right, they are nice colours. I don't mind paying a big extra for something that is different to the norm.
Yea Bob, I was really jazzed when I saw it in the catalog...way different from the usual colors I see in these plants! I'd also like to find one that's REALLY purple (not just dark pink), and a white one, too! After all, one can NEVER have too many plants! :)
