The Spiders From Mars...not from my garden, fortunately-but in some places, they are. I've been "spider-sitting" for my son all summer, and he came to get them tonight. I'm actually rather sad, even though they really aren't my kind of pet-I'd never handle them for sure. But I got used to feeding them crickets...they're very interesting. I even got to witness one of them doing her first "puberty dance"-kind of swaying back and forth, tapping her butt on the ground...and ever since she's been really aggressive-sounds like normal puberty to me! My son even offered/threatened to buy me one for Christmas, since I took such good care of them....I may actually take him up on that!

Have to tell a story, because I am annoying that way.

Before we bough our homestead, we were renting a house from my in-laws. They had pet tarantulas, snakes, and feeder rats. A few months after us living there, I was using the bathroom, just sitting there minding my own business, when A spider strolled over my feet. I don't ever remember moving that quickly. But I jumped up and started yelling ROSE HAIR! ROSE HAIR! I like spiders, but when they are that big and unexpected, they can scare the expletive out of you.

And I was right, it was a rose hair tarantula. One had escaped and had babies under the house. Nice huh?

I think spiders are cool except in the can!

Yea, I agree with both of you-spiders are very cool, but only in the cage! Thanks for the story, Phelan...glad I don't have a similar one to share! :)
