So here's the "after"...much bigger project that I anticipated (as most are), but I "got er' dun"...what an awesome feeling! I ordered some wildflower seeds over the weekend, too...think I'll try some Twinleaf in this area, since it likes shade. The bricks were a real b*%tch! They are actual pavers from a local street, and I had to bust them apart from some heavy-duty mortar...no fun! But I'm sooo glad to be done.....yay!

Good stuff, looks much better, well done.

Since we moved into our house, I've undertaken loads of projects, inside and out, but its the outside ones that are most satisfying.

Great job! I bet chiseling off that mortar took care of any angst you might have been holding on to this weekend... lol. Were you sore today from all that work?

If I'd let anyone inside my house, they would see that the outdoor projects get all my attention :) That mortar took a beating that was meant for a couple frustrating people-and I'm not only sore, but there's a couple scrapes and a blood blister, to boot. That's why I stick to outdoor stuff though...the indoor projects usually result in cursing, bloodshed, and a half-done job that requires a professional to undo!

Looks good Lisa,Im sure it will be worth the blood blister and sweat from taking the bricks from the mortar. What plants are you growing there?Hostas?...

Mostly hostas, an ostrich fern way in the back of the photo, a couple dwarf astillibees, and three other small ferns along the screen house-Lady in Red, Ghost fern, and a small native fern (not completely sure what it is). There are also two bleeding hearts along the screen house that were recently transplanted and survived, but died back for the season already.
